MV equipment

The electrical circuits and equipment of an MV installation (for example, a distribution substation) must be protected in order to avoid or control damage due to abnormal currents or voltages.

All the equipment normally used in the installations of the power supply systems have specifications for a short-term allowable rated current for overcurrents and insulation level for overvoltages. The role of the protections is to ensure that these limits are never exceeded.
